QUICK ANSWER

Six large-scale maps are confirmed for launch. As of August 9, official public material clearly names Thanh Hóa Bridge and Đắk Tô Airfield. The developers have also described an unnamed dockside battlefield. Treat any complete six-map list as unconfirmed until Team17 publishes the remaining names or the game launches.

How many maps are available at launch?

Both the current Steam listing and Team17’s launch material confirm six large-scale maps. They are inspired by real locations and operations from the Vietnam War, but they are not intended to be exact one-to-one reconstructions.

The developers begin with period photography, historical records, topographical data, and modern geographical information. They then adapt terrain, waterways, vehicle routes, and objectives for balanced 50-versus-50 matches. Rivers may be reshaped for boat access and capture points may move when the real terrain would not create a workable battle.

Thanh Hóa Bridge

Thanh Hóa Bridge was the single map available in the May open beta. Team17 made both Warfare and Offensive available, making it the only launch battlefield with those two mode assignments publicly confirmed in official pre-launch material we reviewed.

Game Director Paul Rustchynsky described the bridge as a natural focal point rather than a conventional bottleneck. Tanks, helicopters, boats, and infantry can all influence the crossing, while the surrounding terrain and river routes keep the battle from collapsing into one narrow lane.

Đắk Tô Airfield

Đắk Tô Airfield was introduced for the July cross-platform playtest. The official description places the base in Vietnam’s Central Highlands and combines close-range fighting inside fortified positions with wider engagements across the airstrip.

The runway is deliberately exposed. The developers say squads crossing it unsupported will be punished, while smoke, suppressive fire, and coordinated movement create a safer advance. Nearby settlements and jungle prevent the entire map from playing as one open vehicle arena.

What is known about the other maps?

The developer Q&A describes an upcoming dockside map with large open areas and extensive waterways, but it does not give that map a public name. The wider launch selection spans river systems, farmland, airfields, industrial areas, smaller built-up settlements, and coastal locations.

Why this page does not list six names: community posts and screenshots may offer a fuller list, but our standard is a current developer, publisher, storefront, or launch-build source. We will update the table when the remaining names are officially published.

Are all the maps jungle?

No. Jungle and dense vegetation remain important, but the developers have repeatedly emphasized environmental variety. Official descriptions include rice fields, rivers, beaches, rolling hills, farmland, airfields, docks, industrial spaces, and coastal terrain.

That variety changes movement and vehicle opportunities. Waterways make patrol boats useful for transport and flanking. Airfields create long exposed sightlines. Smaller industrial and urban spaces tighten combat. These are inferences from the developers’ terrain descriptions rather than claims about the final balance of maps we have not played.

Will there be night maps at launch?

No night maps are planned for launch. Expression Games is exploring how flares, floodlights, and other visibility systems could make night combat mechanically distinct. The team has not committed to releasing those experiments, so night variants should be treated as a future possibility rather than announced DLC.

Could Huế or Hạ Long Bay be added?

The official Q&A says Huế and Hạ Long Bay are being investigated as inspiration for possible future environments. The same answer explicitly says these are not announcements or confirmed additions. Neither belongs on a launch-map list.

The developers say future choices will be guided by historical authenticity, gameplay variety, and community feedback. Larger urban areas, islands, and additional waterways are among the environment types being explored.

What to verify on launch day

  1. Confirm the official names of all six maps in the live server browser.
  2. Record which modes and weather variants are available on each map.
  3. Separate launch content from locations discussed only as future possibilities.
  4. Update tactical advice only after the shipping maps can be tested directly.
