Patch 1.4 is live for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam with around 200 fixes and improvements. Team17 says it addresses the main distorted or robotic Proximity Chat issue, adds a targeted fix for Recon Plane and Flare markers that remain on the Tactical Map, supports DLSS 4.5 with new Frame Generation options on supported Nvidia 50-series hardware, and adds protection against unexpected Career Level resets. Stability, other audio reports, spawning and some inputs are still being tracked.
Patch 1.4: status at a glance
| Player question | Official status |
|---|---|
| Is Patch 1.4 live? | Yes. Team17 says it brings around 200 fixes and improvements across the game. |
| Does it fix robotic Proximity Chat? | It addresses the main issue where Proximity Chat could become distorted or robotic. Team17 will continue monitoring VOIP reports. |
| Are persistent Recon and Flare markers fixed? | A targeted fix is included for cases where those enemy markers remained visible longer than intended; the team says it believes it identified one underlying cause. |
| Are all audio and stability problems fixed? | No. Other audio, stability, spawning and deployment reports remain under investigation. |
What changed for VOIP and Tactical Map markers?
The headline VOIP change is aimed at the prolonged distorted or robotic sound in Proximity Chat. This is distinct from every possible audio complaint: Team17 still asks for VOIP reports, and its Community Feedback update says broader audio reports remain under investigation.
Patch 1.4 also targets the Tactical Map problem where enemy markers generated by Recon Planes and Flares could remain visible for longer than intended. The developer says it believes it has identified one cause and implemented a fix for those instances. That wording is not a promise that every unusual marker report is permanently eliminated, so note the map, mode and reproduction steps if it returns.
PC performance and progression changes
- DLSS 4.5: the patch adds support, including 5x and 6x Frame Generation options for supported Nvidia 50-series hardware.
- Career Levels: additional safeguards were added against Career Levels unexpectedly resetting to Level 1. Team17 will continue monitoring progression reports.
- Stability: the notes identify a skeletal-skinning component that could contribute to instability during gore and blood-splatter instances; it was removed alongside further stability work.
Controls, tunnels and spawning
- Helicopter gunner seats now respect Toggle ADS, and the patch includes additional mouse-rebinding, keybinding-persistence and controller fixes.
- Helicopter control behaviour now includes inversion-setting changes, while the developer says further control customisation remains under review.
- The 3D Tactical Map now displays Resource Node radius; Tunnel travel screens show travel time; Tunnel and Garrison connection messaging was improved.
- Players walking through a spawn-point blueprint no longer prevent its construction, and Commanders can correctly place abilities over spawn points on the Tactical Map.
- A non-VIP party-slot warning that could appear when joining a server was fixed.
Gameplay and environment fixes worth retesting
- Another player can no longer interrupt a Medic revive by attempting to drag the downed player.
- Downed players correctly drown underwater, including a fix for the drowning timer getting stuck at six seconds.
- Satchel placement checks were improved, and the tutorial match timer and Capture Progress no longer display incorrectly.
- More than 100 environment fixes cover terrain and asset alignment, collision, clipping, LOD, visibility, water and surface issues across the maps.
What is still being investigated?
| Report | Current official guidance |
|---|---|
| Keyboard stops responding while mouse still works | Team17 links this to the Epic Online Services overlay. Press Shift + F3 to open and close the overlay as a temporary workaround while Epic works on an EOS SDK update. |
| First-shot stutter or a short freeze after an update | The team says shader and PSO caching can contribute and continues working to reduce missed cached data as content changes. |
| Helicopter controls | Some inversion improvements shipped, but broader requests around separation of Pilot and Door Gunner controls, mouse handling and customisation remain under review. |
| Few servers in the browser | Check Crossplay and active browser filters first. Disabling Crossplay shows only the same-platform pool; it does not create one general console-only pool. |
How to retest after updating
- Restart the game and confirm Patch 1.4 is installed before retesting a VOIP or marker issue.
- Test Proximity Chat in a live match. Record whether the prolonged robotic effect returns, rather than grouping it with unrelated muffled or directional-audio complaints.
- Check input settings. Revisit mouse bindings, controller settings and helicopter inversion after the update.
- Check server visibility methodically. Review Crossplay and every active filter before concluding a server has disappeared.
- Report the remaining issue with detail. Include platform, hardware where relevant, map, mode and repeatable steps so the team can investigate.
Bottom line
Patch 1.4 is the current official baseline for players who had robotic Proximity Chat, persistent Recon or Flare markers, fragile keybindings or the earlier non-VIP party-slot message. It also adds useful DLSS 4.5 and Tactical Map improvements. The responsible expectation is not that every launch problem has disappeared: Team17 is still tracking stability, audio, spawning, deployment, first-shot stutter and parts of helicopter control behaviour.
