The developer has warned that certain AMD GPUs may experience infrequent crashes or stability problems linked to a known driver issue. That means a game patch or driver update may be the real fix.

Try these fixes from safest to most disruptive

  1. Install the latest stable AMD driver. Use the normal AMD Software update path. If the newest optional driver makes stability worse, return to the latest recommended release.
  2. Return the GPU to stock settings. Temporarily remove overclocks, undervolts, and aggressive memory tuning—even if they are stable in other games.
  3. Verify the game files in Steam. This replaces damaged or incomplete files without deleting your personal documents.
  4. Disable overlays for one test. Turn off recording, performance overlays, and third-party monitoring hooks, then reproduce the same match scenario.
  5. Lower VRAM-heavy settings. Reduce textures and effects one step, close GPU-heavy background applications, and test again.
  6. Reset the shader cache. Use AMD Software or Windows Disk Cleanup, restart the PC, and expect the first match to stutter while shaders rebuild.

What not to claim as a confirmed fix

Players have reported success with different compatibility, administrator, and anti-cheat workarounds, but the reports are inconsistent. A workaround that stops one crash does not prove the root cause. We do not recommend disabling security software, replacing DLL files, or downloading modified anti-cheat packages.

Before changing anything: write down the crash time, map, GPU model, driver version, and whether the driver itself reset. That record is more useful than applying ten changes at once.

How to tell whether the driver crashed

A black screen followed by a recovered desktop, an AMD timeout notification, or a Windows event mentioning a display-driver reset points toward the graphics stack. A clean game exit with an anti-cheat message suggests a different path. Keep those categories separate when reporting the problem.

Should you reinstall Windows?

No—not for an isolated pre-launch or launch-week game crash. A Windows reinstall is disproportionate unless multiple unrelated games and system workloads also fail. Wait for confirmed release notes, test a stable driver, and submit a reproducible report first.
